2008 Challenge - words we need!

Ok, the words for 2007 are established - w00t, podcast, locavore all have their uses.

BUT...

We need some additional words - C'mon Flist - step up and invent!

We need words for someone that isn't actually a blood relative, but is someone that is family nonetheless. For instance, "my-brother-from-another-mother" just isn't going to work when I talk about the guy that is a dear longtime friend who has been with me through all life can dish out.

And, what about a word to describe a female family friend that is aunt-like in her role, but not an actual relative. She's not a mentor, she's not your other-mother, but what word will describe her?

Don't forget that perennially missing word that POSSLQ (Persons of Opposite Sex Sharing Living Quarters) should cover - except for the part about "opposite sex". The gaps between "roommate", "domestic partner", and "spouse" need some fill-in words regardless of the genders involved.

To me, "domestic partner" sounds too much like someone that helps you run a maid service. "Spouse" is too old-fashioned. "Husband" and "Wife" are too gender specific. We need more words here!

Plus, we absolutely MUST get rid of "baby-daddy" and "baby-momma"!!!! I admit they cover, in a slangy sort of way, descriptions of relationships that are difficult to summarize. But - these are just NOT acceptable beyond the slang use IMHO.

Ok, anyone have any other examples of words we REALLY need? or perhaps some suggestions for filling in our dictionaries with actual useful words?
