Oh, I am made of fail...

I swore I wouldn't do it. I KNEW it wasn't a good idea. I knew the temptation was coming, and that I should not give in.

FAIL!!!!

While eating out last night with a acquaintance/friend I just couldn't keep my mouth shut. I had to blurt and burble all kinds of fangirl squeeing - to someone that isn't a fangirl.

I watched her eyes narrow, then glaze over, but I couldn't stop telling my fannish anecdote. She didn't make any comments about my story, but I seemed to hear something like "Doesn't she talk about anything else besides these pseudo-gay fictional men????"

Doh - I know better than to talk about topics of disinterest - and I certainly know to listen to my inner "don't do it!" voice. But *hanging head in shame* I squeed. In public. To a civilian - a disinterested civilian. *sigh*

And to make matters worse, I didn't get any leftovers from the delicious Chinese food.

*POUT*

I think I'd be more upset about the leftovers!

As for the fangirl squee thing... It's very hard to keep fan!life and real!life separate. Luckily for me, other than work, I hang out mostly with fangirls. Tampa (and Florida, really) is filthy with them.

LOL I know the glazed look. It's just not fair they don't get as excited as we do.

I just feel sorry for them - they have nothing like this in their lives and they are so missing out. You can always squee in our direction - we'll join in!

I've had a few close calls with the fannish-squeeing-in-public thing. Last week something happened at work (I don't remember what, now) and I almost blurted, "That's just like in Star Trek, where Kirk and Spock went to a planet where..." I managed to catch myself in time. *g* I almost slipped again when, on seeing Spock as the background on my cellphone, my boss asked if I liked Star Trek and admitted that he liked SciFi shows. I decided at the last second that he wasn't quite ready to know exactly how much I like Trek...
