Brokeback reflections... Spoiler Warning!

Friends took me to the movie "Brokeback Mountain" for my birthday (Thanks D & J!)

Now, two days later, I'm still thinking about that movie - and I hope I can put down some of those thoughts coherently. Here goes...

The real obscenity in that movie was the men with the tire irons... even though the violence was not overly graphic, it was a horrible reminder of the countless times that people have been hurt and even killed for being who they are. And it still happens in our country today. That is truly obscene.

----

Ok, I've been sitting here trying to type more about that movie - about the roles we force on young boys and young men, about hate disguised as morality - but I can't seem to think of anything new to say about either. We are doing something terribly wrong to humanity by teaching our children these harmful "truths". I'm sad for the boys who are hated, and I'm sad for the boys who hate.

Go see the movie. Anyone who has had to make choices about love will connect with the story - regardless of gender or sexual preference.
